ANALYTICS ENGINEER

Nasfund is seeking a motivated and technically curious Analytics Engineer to join our Data & Digital team in Port Moresby. • · Develop, test, and maintain data transformations within the Fund's AWS data lakehouse (Silver and Gold layers)
• · Learn and apply data modeling best practices - including dbt, Star Schema, and Medallion Architecture
• · Contribute to the analytical layer supporting the connection between the Data Engineer (Bronze-layer pipeline ingestion) and the business reporting layer (Power BI dashboards).
• · Apply SCD Type 2 patterns for dimension and state tables and latest-snapshot handling for transactional data, aligned with the Fund's hybrid Bronze historization approach.
• · Implementing automated data quality checks using SQL-based Athena-native gates to monitor the health and consistency of analytical datasets..
• · Maintain comprehensive documentation for all data models, transformations, and business metric definitions within the Fund's centralized data catalog.
• · Support data governance standards for metric definitions, data lineage, and documentation, and develop data literacy skills to contribute to broader organizational awareness over time.
• · Safeguard member data by strictly adhering to data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (including BPNG mandated reporting).

• · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
• · 2–3 years’ experience in analytics engineering, data warehousing, or a BI/SQL analyst role, with a clear appetite for growth in modern data stack practices.
• · Exposure to or working knowledge of dbt (Core or Cloud); willingness to develop hands-on proficiency in modular, version-controlled, and tested data modeling.
• · Familiarity with or exposure to cloud data warehouses or lakehouses - AWS Athena/Iceberg preferred; Snowflake or BigQuery experience is transferable.
• · Working knowledge of Power BI (Import mode, semantic layer design) is an advantage.
• · A genuine interest in data governance practices, metric definition standards, and data lineage tooling.
• · Strong written communication skills - ability to document technical work clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• · A collaborative, curious team player with a strong commitment to cross-skilling, learning, and continuous improvement.
